Description: Contains the polygonal features of the DEFA Agriculture Division Field Gazetteer. All fields on the Island are recorded including ownership and usage information derived from the annual Agricultural Census Returns going back up to 10 years. This is a common dataset used across Government for recording land-based transactions. Field Numbers are derived from the James Plot Directory (which relates to field and plot boundaries as they were recorded at the time of the original Island survey in 1869). These have been prefixed with a 2 digit ancient parish identifier to ensure uniqueness across the entire Island. Where field boundaries have been modified or fields split/merged since the 1869 survey, new field numbers have been allocated and links to historical versions recorded in the related CrossRef table.
